Minister of Health and Public Hygiene, Togo
Background
On August 20, 2024, after over two decades of academic leadership, Professor Tchin Darré officially took office as Togo’s Minister of Health and Public Hygiene. In government, he is entrusted with guiding public health strategy and universal access to care.
Experience
By 2022 he was Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Lomé, having previously headed its Department of Basic & Biological Sciences. As a practicing anatomical pathologist, he led departments at CHU Sylvanus Olympio, CHR Lomé Commune, and CHU Campus. He has authored about 100 scholarly works and served on pharmacovigilance and quality‐management committees across the UEMOA universities.
Education
He earned his baccalauréat série D in 1999, a medical doctorate from the University of Lomé in 2006, and a specialist diploma in Pathological Anatomy and Cytology from Abidjan in 2013. He advanced through the academic tiers, becoming CAMES assistant professor in 2014, associate professor in 2016, and full professor in 2020.
