Background

Pierre N’Gou Dimba began his academic journey with a Baccalauréat série C in 1985 followed by classes préparatoires. He graduated as a civil engineer from the National School of Public Works (ENSTP) in 1990. He began his professional career in 1991 with the national Bureau of Technical Studies and Development (BNETD), focusing on roads, infrastructure, and municipal upgrading programs.

Experience

From 1997 to 2003 he coordinated urban improvement efforts under the PAQSE initiative, later leading Bank-funded infrastructure projects until 2017, when he was named Director-General of Ageroute.

Expertise

He is recognized for leadership in both infrastructure management and health systems strengthening.

Achievements

On April 6, 2021, he was appointed Minister of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage under President Ouattara’s administration. As minister, he’s overseen a range of reforms aligning with the National Health Development Plan 2021–2025, including reducing HIV prevalence from 4.7 percent in 2010 to around 1.82 percent in 2023, halving maternal mortality, and sharply decreasing malaria mortality. He also established the Côte d’Ivoire Public Health Bulletin in July 2023 to circulate timely, research-based health data.
