Background

Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh was sworn in as Ghana’s Minister for Health on 7 February 2025 under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, following parliamentary approval on 5 February. He has been the Member of Parliament for Juaboso Constituency since January 2013, successfully retaining his seat in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 general elections.

Education

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics and Mathematics from the University of Cape Coast (2007), a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from Mountcrest University College, and a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Natural Resources Law from the University of Ghana.

Previous Roles

Before becoming Minister, he served as the Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health and was also Deputy Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing. He also worked as an Assistant Director of the National Voluntary Programme at the National Service Scheme.
