Background
Dr. Yahya Oyewoga Disu is a seasoned public health expert and the Executive Director of Afrihealth for Social Development and Impact (ASDI), a progressive not-for-profit organization committed to enhancing community resilience, strengthening health systems, and fostering inclusive social development through strategic communication, advocacy, and partnerships. Previously, Dr. Disu served as the Head of Corporate Communications, Risk Communication, and Community Engagement at the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), where he played a pivotal role in building trust and improving collaboration between government institutions, stakeholders, and communities. His leadership in risk communication and community engagement contributed significantly to Nigeria's compliance with International Health Regulations, particularly in epidemic preparedness and response.
Experience
Dr. Disu is deeply involved in fostering regional and community-level resilience through collaboration with civil society organizations, governments, and development partners in West Africa. His diverse experience in public health, advocacy, and risk communication uniquely positions him to facilitate meaningful dialogue on accelerating government and civil society collaboration to strengthen community resilience.
Expertise
A trained medical doctor, epidemiologist, and public health physician, Dr. Disu has led multiple high-impact initiatives aimed at enhancing government and civil society collaboration during health crises. His work has been instrumental in managing outbreaks of diseases such as Ebola, Lassa Fever, Mpox, Cholera, Yellow Fever, Cerebrospinal Meningitis, and COVID-19, both in Nigeria and across West Africa. He has provided consultancy expertise for organizations like the Society for Family Health (SFH), African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET), UKAID/DFID, and the African Union.

He has also held various leadership roles, including Vice President of the ECOWAS Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) Network, Public Relations Officer for the Society for Public Health Professionals of Nigeria and President of the Association of Medical Officers of Health in Nigeria (AMOHN).
