Background

Dr. Oumar Diouhé Bah, a pharmacist-biologist by training, was appointed Minister of Health and Public Hygiene in November 2023. n Kambanya (Télimélé prefecture), he studied pharmacy at the University Gamal Abdel Nasser of Conakry, graduating in 2002. Known for his academic excellence, he ranked top of his class throughout his studies.

Experience

Before his ministerial appointment, he held leadership roles including National Director of Pharmacy and Medicines and President of the National Technical Committee on Illicit Medical Practices. He also founded BIOMAR-24, a medical biology lab in Conakry, and served as a lecturer at several Guinean universities.

Expertise

Dr. Bah is widely respected for his technical expertise, commitment to reform, and community-oriented leadership. As Minister, he is prioritizing pharmaceutical regulation, health infrastructure, and improved access to quality healthcare across Guinea.

Achievements

As National Director, he led sweeping reforms in drug regulation, shutting down illegal pharmacies and counterfeit drug networks. His efforts earned him national recognition and promotion to honorary Colonel for his role in coordinating the health response to a major fire incident in Conakry in early 2024.
